Families, Children & the Due-Diligence Fire
The Children's Fire Meets the Municipal File
A loving guide for families who want their children raised by a village, educated by a forest, and not accidentally enrolled in a regulatory fog machine.
Section One
Forest School Is a Feeling. Authorization Is a Process.
nEOS Life warmly believes that nature itself can be the classroom. Portugal, meanwhile, warmly believes in registration, responsible educators, host schools, curriculum, monitoring, and exams. Both may coexist, but one photographs better at sunset.
Forest-School Feeling
- Children outdoors
- Natural play
- Food growing
- Community care
- Beautiful memories
Home Education Reality
- Formal school registration
- Qualified responsible educator
- Protocol with school
- Portfolio monitoring
- National exams / equivalent assessments
- Portuguese curriculum link
Official School Reality
- Education licence
- Qualified staff
- Adequate facilities
- Defined education levels
- Pedagogical director
- Land-use approval
- Multi-year pathway
Section Two
The Day-One School, Also Known as Home Education
The proposed day-one route appears to be home education: children are formally attached to a host school while actual learning happens elsewhere. This can be legal. It can also be much more formal than the phrase "the forest is the classroom" suggests.
Family Due Diligence Checklist
- 1Which school will be the host school?
- 2Is it public or private/cooperative?
- 3Who is the responsible educator?
- 4Does that person have the required qualification?
- 5Who is the professor-tutor?
- 6What protocol is signed?
- 7How often is the portfolio reviewed?
- 8What exams will the child sit?
- 9What happens if the child does not pass?
- 10What is the Portuguese-language plan?
- 11Is bilingual teaching formally supported by the host school?
- 12What happens if the family leaves Neos?
- 13What happens if the official school never gets approved?

Section Three
An Official School of Our Own, Eventually-ish
An official school is not manifested by saying "children of the new paradigm" three times in a newsletter. It needs a licence, a legal entity, pedagogical leadership, qualified staff, suitable buildings, inspection, and land-use permission. This is why "we intend to explore" should be read as "not currently solved."

- Stage 2

Section Four
Can Families Actually Live There?
The family question is not just education. It is whether the homes are legally homes, tourist units, agrotourism units, co-ownership rights, serviced accommodation, or something else. A render cannot answer that. A webinar cannot answer that. A contract, permit file, title, and planning certificate can.
- 1What is the land-use classification?
- 2Is permanent residential use approved?
- 3Is the project residential, tourism, agrotourism, rural tourism, or mixed-use?
- 4Are units individually deeded?
- 5Are owner-use restrictions attached?
- 6Is there a tourism operator?
- 7Is there a title constituting the development?
- 8What happens if planning approval is not granted?
- 9Can families register the address as their legal residence?
- 10Can children be assigned to local services from that address?
- 11Can owners rent, resell, or occupy freely?
- 12What exactly is bought: land, house, right of use, company share, membership, or reservation?
Section Five
The New Paradigm Translation Table
| Marketing phrase | Plain translation |
|---|---|
| "Children will be held by the village." | Please ask who is legally responsible for supervision, childcare, safeguarding, insurance, and emergency procedures. |
| "Forest school sensibility." | Please ask whether this is education, childcare, extracurricular activity, or informal play. |
| "Home education from day one." | Please ask who signs the protocol, who monitors the portfolio, and who prepares the exams. |
| "Official school of our own." | Please ask whether a licence exists or whether this is still a multi-year intention. |
| "Residential community." | Please ask whether permanent housing is legally permitted. |
| "Secure your lot." | Please ask what you actually own. |
Section Six
Questions Families Should Ask Before Paying Anything
- Show me the education plan.
- Show me the host-school arrangement.
- Show me the homeschooling protocol template.
- Show me the responsible educator's qualifications.
- Show me the exam pathway.
- Show me the language support plan.
- Show me the school licensing roadmap.
- Show me the land-use approval for the school building.
- Show me the housing permission.
- Show me the ownership structure.
- Show me the operator agreement.
- Show me what happens if permits are denied.
If these questions feel too old-paradigm, remember: your child's transcript, legal residence, and future university application may still live in the old paradigm.

Section Seven
Consult the Education Oracle
For families whose questions are too specific to be answered and too reasonable to be ignored.
Which curriculum is used?
+
The curriculum is Portugal-adjacent, nature-infused, and currently communing with the host-school protocol.
Can my child later enter university?
+
Yes, provided the educational pathway includes the necessary recognition, exams, documents, and less mist than usual.
Is this a real school?
+
It is real as a vision. For legal reality, please consult the documents not currently shown in the render.
Can we live there permanently?
+
Spiritually, immediately. Legally, please locate the correct land-use category.
Who is responsible for childcare?
+
The village holds the child. Insurance may require a more specific sentence.
